- People who have not been to a bed and breakfast often wonder why anyone would want to. What do you do there? Bed and breakfasts are more relaxed and “homey” than a motel or hotel. At our B&B you have a suite all your own–private bath with walk-in shower, queen bed, fireplace, jacuzzi, mini-frig, wi-fi, sitting room and personal deck. We welcome our guests and introduce ourselves, then give a tour and explain the suite amenities. We don’t provide evening meals, but we have menus for all the area restaurants and tell how to get to them and what is good about each one. We also do “advertisements” for what to do and see in the area. Then we leave you alone to enjoy and relax. We are quieter and have much less commotion than hotels and motels. We are not set up for families and children; we are a couples get-away.
In the morning we bring a tray of goodies and coffee to your suite so you can wake up at your leisure in private. An hour later we serve breakfast at the main dining table with a fabulous view of the Mississippi River. We serve a fruit dish, juice, main course egg bake, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, milk, water, and DESSERT. All dishes are home cooked right here and we use many of our own home grown fruits and vegetables; often the raspberries or strawberries are picked an hour before you enjoy them. (You will not get that freshness at a motel!) While you dine, you can visit with the other couple as well as your hosts. It is enjoyable finding out what others’ lives are like, how they met, and what’s interesting about where they live.
Many guests spend the day enjoying the area-we have much to offer. Some just stay in and relax-watch the eagles, read, and unwind.
We hope this gives those who are thinking about trying a bed and breakfast a better picture of what we’re about: Beauty, hospitality, relaxation, and service.
